Changes to HOPE Scholarship

The AJC revealed the proposed changes to the Georgia HOPE scholarship in their article Drastic Cuts Unveiled for HOPE, pre-K. I have been a supporter of the HOPE scholarship and the opportunites it offers high school students in Georgia who might not have been able to attend college without it. I went to a private college so I was unable to take full advantage of it, but I have been watching the changes coming to the scholarship and I have feared that the scholarship would be removed.

These changes are changes I agree with. 90% of tutition is still a large amount and the Zell Miller scholarship will honor those who have done particularly well. This also allows the state to keep the scholarship for longer and reduces the risk of running out of money and having no funds for any HOPE scholarship at all.

What do you think?
